Anorexia Treatment

Anorexia is the loss of appetite or inability to eat.

  • Skip a meal. Try to miss breakfast, if appetite is still not gained at lunch, ground 5gms of ginger and add a little salt. Lick the mixture to get appetite back.
  • Make tea out of dried curry leaves that has been powdered. Drinking it improves appetite and also relieves vomiting. ¼ - ½ teaspoon steeped in 1 cup hot water should be sufficient.
  • Drink the water (1 - 2 glasses) and flesh of a young coconut to relieve loss of appetite due to heatiness.
  • Eat 1 - 2 oranges or apples a day.
  • Mix 1 teaspoon each lime and ginger juice. Add 1gm rock salt and place the mixture out to sun for 3 days. Then take 1 teaspoon after each meal. Alternatively, add a little lime juice and rock salt to some chopped ginger slices and chew them.
  • Boil 3 - 4 cloves of garlic in 1 cup water. Take the mixture, or with the juice of ½ lemon added, 2x a day.
  • Boil for 20 minutes 1 liter water mixed with a pinch of cayenne pepper, ½ handful minced ginger root, 2 tablespoons honey and a little rock salt. Cool the mixture for a few minutes, then add the juice of ½ lemon. Drink when needed.
  • Pound cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaf in equal proportion to make powder. Take ½ - 1 teaspoon of the mixture.
  • Take 1 tablespoon alfalfa or any green, leafy herbs before breakfast and lunch to stimulate the appetite.
  • Steep 1 teaspoon fenugreek or caraway seeds in 1 cup boiling water for 10 minutes. Drink 1 cup 3x daily to stimulate the appetite.
  • Eat a ripe pineapple sprinkled with a little rock salt and powdered cumin.
  • Eat a pomegranate alone, or with a little rock salt and black pepper added.
