Chicken Pox (varisella)

Chicken pox is a contagious disease caused by the Herpes Zoster virus (which also cause shingles), and is common in children.

  • To smoothen the face and get rid of chicken pox marks, dry a bunch of squids under the sun. Cleanse, pound till fine, and filter to make powder. Gently rub this powder on the face or the rests of affected skin everyday until condition disappears.
  • Mix about 1 teaspoon powdered turmeric with the juice of ½ lemon and a little water. Blend well to make paste. Apply on the chicken pox marks.
  • Applying vitamin E over the skin will help it to heal.
  • Applying honey over the skin will help it to heal.
  • To relieve the itch from chicken pox, have an oatmeal bath. One way is to place oatmeal in an old stocking that has been cut short, and placed under the mouth tap of a tub. Let water run through the stocking into the tub and soak in it.
  • Sandalwood oil to be applied on the first day the rash appears, until the scabs fall off.
  • Rub the inside of banana peel on the chicken pox scars everyday.
  • To get rid of post chicken pox scars, grate a young corn till fine. Apply on the scars and leave for at least half an hour. Do this everyday for 4-5 days.
  • Grate watermelon rind and apply on the skin every night at bedtime for about a week.
