Cholera
Cholera is an acute infection of the gastrointestinal tract that is caused by the consumption food and water
that has been contaminated with the Vibrio cholerae bacterium, and it is infectious.

Suck on ice to reduce internal temperature and tendency to vomit during cholera. Sip repeatedly on
small quantities of water, soda or green coconut water to overcome the loss of fluids. At the
cessation of acute cholera symptoms, take very thin green coconut water and barley water. Buttermilk
can be added when stools begin to form. Take semi-solid food like porridges healing progresses then
solid foods, especially bland foods, only when fully recovered.

Drink lemon juice, plain, sweetened or even salted, to prevent and kill
cholera bacilli within a short period during a cholera epidemic. Also take it with food daily to
prevent cholera.

Take the root bark of guava in concentrated decoction form to stop vomiting and diarrhea.

Take in syrup or conserve form the the leaves and flowers of peach.

Take a mixture of 30gms grounded onion and 7 grounded black peppers to relieve thirst and restlessness during cholera.

Two teaspoons each fresh bitter gourd juice and onion juice mixed with 1 teaspoon lime juice to be
taken in the initial stage of cholera.

Boil 3-4gms of cloves in 3 liters water. Let it boil until half of the mixture is left. Swallow a
mouthful each time taken, when needed.

Soak ½ nutmeg in 2 cups water for 2-3 hours. Add 1 teaspoon of it to 1 cup fresh coconut
water and drink 2-3x a day.

Other measures :Boil water used for drinking and cooking in case of contamination, keep all foodstuff
covered, wash vegetables and fruits a solution of potassium permanganate before taken.
