Constipation doesn't necessarily mean one need to take in more fiber, sometimes one could take in too much fiber.

treat constipation naturally
  • Drink plain water regularly to cleanse the system, dilute the blood, wash out poisons and prevent constipation. Take 6-8 glasses a for digestion and dissolving food nutrients to be utilized by the body. Avoid taking water with meals, instead half hour before meals or 1 hour after meals.
  • Include in the diet sufficient soluble fiber such as peas, beans, lentils, soya and soya products and insoluble fiber such as wheat bran and wholegrain cereals and breads. Soluble fiber softens faeces by absorbing water to slow the rate of digestion which in turn lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels. Insoluble fiber adds bulk to feces and make food pass more quickly through the bowels, preventing constipation. Take 2 daily servings each of fruits and vegetables. If lacking in fiber, increase its intake gradually as a sudden promotion can upset the digestive system and cause flatulence and abdominal pain.
  • Drink first thing in the morning 1-2 glass water which has been kept overnight in a copper vessel.
  • Drink 1 glass water with 1-2 tablespoon and half teaspoon salt added.
  • Consume only fresh fruits for 7 days to evacuate bowels, eliminate toxins and purify the blood stream. Then go on a well-balanced diet of raw foods, ripe fruits and whole grain cereals. Repeat every two months if condition persists.
  • Eat constantly natural and unrefined foods such as whole grain cereals, bran, honey, molasses, and lentils; green and leafy vegetables (spinach, french beans, lettuce, beets, peas, tomatoes, onion, cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, celery, turnip, pumpkin, asparagus, carrot, fresh fruits (pears, grapes, figs, papayas, mangoes, grapefruit, gooseberries, guava and oranges), dry fruits (figs, raisins, apricots, dates), milk products (butter, ghee, cream).
  • Take 60gm natural bael before dinner for 3 months to cleanse and tone up intestines.
  • Eat guava with its seed to help evacuate bowels.
  • Eat a medium-sized pear with breakfast or after dinner. For chronic constipation, take only pears or its juice for 3-4 days.
