  • Reduce strain on the digestive system and aid in digestion by taking mainly fresh and dried fruits for breakfast, mainly protein for lunch and for dinner, starchy foods such as cereals, whole wheat bread, rice or potatoes with raw salads. Avoid spices, tomatoes, sour buttermilk and oily foods.
  • Drink 1-2 glasses of warm water mixed with the juices of 1-2 lemons every morning before breakfast to cleanse the stomach and help in digestion.
  • Drink ½ - 1 tsp apple cider vinegar in 1-2 glasses of freshly squeezed apple juice in the late morning or sometime before lunch to balance the digestive juices and help in digestion.
  • To help in digestion, take 1 cup ginger tea by pouring over a few thinly sliced pieces of fresh ginger, after a large meal. Also take ginger tea 1-3 cups a day according to tolerance, stop when starting to feel hot and sweaty.
  • Boil a glass of water with 1 teaspoon grounded cinnamon. Add a pinch of pepper powder and a little honey.
  • A tablespoon of the above decoction taken ½ hour after meals relieves indigestion and flatulence (gas).
  • Dry rose petals soaked for 5 minutes in hot water and taken after meals helps in digestion.
  • Grind till fine 1 tsp each aniseed, dried ginger and cloves. Mix with 1 teaspoon honey and keep in store for use when needed. Take 1 teaspoon of the mixture after each meal and before going to bed.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of grounded cinnamon on 2 tablespoons honey before eating to relieve acidity and digests heavy meals to prevent stomach upsets.
