Goiter

Goiter is an enlargement of the thyroid gland.

  • The essential and lone goiter treatment is inner cleansing and a proper diet thereafter. Cleanse the system by going on a juice fast for 5 days on fruits such as apples, grapes, oranges and pineapples, taking them every 2-3 hours, 8am - 8pm. For the next three days, take 3x a day meals of juicy fruits such as apples, grapes, pineapples and papaya with a glass of milk added every 5 hours. Adopt a well-balanced diet after this fast is over to contain goiter, taking fresh acidic foods such as apples, grapefruit, oranges, pears and grapes with a glass of whole milk and a handful of raw nuts. A glass of fruit or vegetable juice with 1 tablespoon yeast added can be taken in mid-morning. For lunch, take steamed vegetables, wholemeal bread and a glass of buttermilk. For dinner, take vegetable soup, lots of of raw vegetables and sprouts. Cottage cheese or nuts can also be added. Milk or fruit juice can be taken before bedtime. Lots of rest are needed in the first two months of treatment, preferably spending it in bed once a week. When goiter symptoms subside, engage gradually in more physical exercises.
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables should make up 50 percent of the daily diet with just whole wheat products and potatoes (with skin) supplying the starch.
  • Take liberally foods rich in iodine: asparagus, cabbage, carrots, garlic, onion, oats, pineapple, strawberries, tomatoes, watercress and whole rice. Restrict protein intake to cheese, beans, eggs, lentils, nuts and peas.
  • Strictly avoid hazardous foods such as white flour products, white sugar, flesh foods, fried or greasy foods, preserves, condiments, tea, coffee and alcohol. No drugs should be taken as they cause irritation in the tissues.
  • Other measures: Apply a wet sponge to increase skin elimination, especially before retiring and a cold sponge on arising from sleep. Avoid constipation, emotional stress and physical exhaustion. There is a likelihood of goiter recurrence but in less severe forms once a strict diet is followed through for a year.
