Nasal Congestion

  • Place 1 teaspoon honey in a basin of hot water. Cover the head with a towel over the basin and inhale the fumes to relieve nasal congestion.
  • Grind equal amounts cardamom seeds, cinnamon, black pepper and cumin to make powder and sniff frequently to induce sneezing and relieve nasal congestion.
  • Sniff the steam from a heated pan of ½ cup apple cider vinegar. Add water if vapor is too strong. If nasal congestion occurs again, repeat the process. Also, drink a glass of water added with 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar during meals to aid nasal congestion recovery.
  • For a blocked and runny nose, inhale the vapors of 1 large container of boiling water that has been added with about ¼ cup salt. Immerse in the water with eyes and mouth closed but inhaling deeply for a few seconds. Repeat 3-4x.
  • Sprinkle cayenne pepper on food, or drink a glass of water with ¼ tsp added to ease nasal congestion.
  • Add 1 tablespoon grounded carom seeds in a bowl of boiling water. Inhale the vapors frequently to ease nasal congestion. For infants, place the grounded carom seeds in a thin cotton cloth near its pillow.
  • When nasal congestion is accompanied with violent sneezing, soak fried and finely grounded black seeds in vegetable oil. Instill 3-4 drops in each nostril.

For nasal crust:

  • Sniff on a cut onion.
  • Mix ½ cup water with a pinch of salt and put a few drops of the solution in the nostrils to lubricate nasal crust.
  • Take spicy foods to increase circulation and get rid of the nasal crust.
